Palomar District ’s Floral Design Forum Hosted At: Shinoda Design Center San Diego Location 7170 Miramar Road, San Diego 1st Monday ~ October-May, 12:30pm
  • Objectives: To bring the finest floral designers to San Diego County; promote appreciation of floral art forms; develop skills in critiquing floral art; improve individual skills for in home floral decorating; learn skills for flower show exhibition; encourage members to enter flower shows and promote floral arts in the community. The forum is open to anyone interested in floral design.
  • Fees: Choose $70/all 8 program season pass (save $50 off non-member session tickets) or $12/ session for NGC/CGCI members or $15/ session for non-members
2016-17 Schedule September 18: 9am-3pm - FREE Special Program"Fall - Holiday Show" at Shinoda Design Center. Watch while a special creative designer gets your creative juices flowing with products off the shelves-permanent and fresh botanicals. October 3: Robert Gordon, AIFD Professor of Ornamental Horticulture A perennial favorite, Bob kicks off our "Celebrate-the Art Form" season with designs featuring the latest trends. November 7: Susan Standerfer, AIFD currently travels to China as designer and teacher. Don't miss this one December 5: Holiday Designs of National Garden Clubs. Education, Inspiration and Enjoyment – just in time for the Holiday Season. Over 20 designs to view and learn about as NGC Judges explain the ins and outs of each one. January 9: "How'd they do that?" Special Educational Program featuring 3 wonderful teachers, Pauline Sechi, George Speer and Carvill Veech demonstating the ins and outs of Design Mechanics, Backgrounds, under-layments, containers/non-containers, etc Start the year off right. February 6: Adele Kelly, Creative Designer NGC Flower Show Judge. New to our stage but not to Floral Design. Adele commonly best in class, section and show. Get ready for the FS season. March 6: “FLOWER POWER ” Our most popular Program. Watch as local college student designers race against the clock to complete a Surprise Package design from material, container and theme. Then, like a 3 ring circus, they show a “signature Design ”, a “round robin ” and then a “wrap up ” design. April 3: Mitsuko Takeya, Master Instructor O'Hara School of Ikebana. Enjoy the simplicity, meaning and grace of her designs. We are pleased that Mitsuko could fit us in between her many classes. May 1: Tom Simmons, AIFD,CFD, CCF Floral Designer, Special Events, classes.
