- Objectives: To bring the finest floral designers to San Diego County; promote appreciation of floral art forms; develop skills in critiquing floral art; improve individual skills for in home floral decorating; learn skills for flower show exhibition; encourage members to enter flower shows and promote floral arts in the community. The forum is open to anyone interested in floral design.

- Reminder, that California Garden Club Inc. members are able to shop at Shinoda Design Center with a pass obtained by your club President. You will have to pay sales tax at the time of purchase. Applications are available at their web site.
2019-2020 Floral Design Forum Schedule
- September 15, 2019 -FREE Special "Christmas Show ” at Shinoda Design Center, San Diego. Sunday, 10 AM to 3 PM. Watch while Kevin Ylvisaker, AIFD, PFCI, Smithers Oasis floral products design director creates fresh and silk designs to get your creative plans flowing with products off the shelves. Notice: FREE
- October 7, 2019 - The Family Proteaceae by the Resendiz Bros. Protea Growers. Designer, cut flowers, arrangements and plants. Learn, enjoy and take home.
- November 4, 2019 - Robert L. Gordon AIFD, Ornamental Horticulture Professor and Garden Club member for many years; is joined by George Speer, NGC Master Judge to answer "Are there still differences between Professional and Garden Club designs?"
- December 2, 2019 - Rene van Rems, AIFD, Dutch born designer, author and educator. He is the world-renowned ambassador of the floral industry. Rene presents European Holiday Designing. He will entertain, educate and inspire. Don't miss this one. Register to reserve your seat, they are limited.
- January 6, 2020 - "How'd they do that?" Special Educational Program featuring wonderful NGC Judges/teachers, demonstrating the ins and outs of design mechanics, backgrounds, underlayments, containers/non-containers, etc. Start the year off right.
- February 3, 2020 - Dale Rekus from Point Loma Garden Club, a competitive designer (SD Fair's Top Ten) with an eye for being his own man with style. New to our stage.
- March 2, 2020 - “FLOWER POWER ” Our most popular program. Watch as 5 local college student designers race against the clock to complete a Surprise Package design from material, container and theme. Then, like a 3 ring circus, they show a “signature design, ” a “round robin ” and then a “wrap up ” design.
- April 6, 2020 - Mitsuko Takeya, Master Instructor O'Hara School of Ikebana. Enjoy the simplicity, meaning and grace of her designs. We are pleased that Mitsuko could fit us in between her many classes.
- May 4, 2020 - The "Grand Finale" is to be determined.
